That means going beyond crafting high-quality products. It means doing our best to reduce our environmental footprint in all areas, including packaging, product waste, water conservation, manufacturing operations, and supply chain.
Because what affects the planet and our society, affects all of us.
Infinitely-recyclable aluminium packaging
When you buy GilletteLabs care products like the Rapid Foaming Shave Gel, the Quick Rinse Shave Foam, or the Fast Absorbing Moisturiser, you know the packaging is going to be made from infinitely recyclable aluminium.
What are the benefits of this?
- Aluminium, unlike other recyclable materials, doesn’t degrade or lose quality each time it’s recycled, so it can be recycled indefinitely.
- This reduces waste and the need to produce and mine for new aluminium.
- Which translates into less energy expenditure across our supply chain and production pipeline.
Our cart packs — for GilletteLabs Razor Blade Refills — and sliding box packages are both wholly recyclable. And so is the packaging sleeve of our convenient travel case for GilletteLabs razors, for when you’re on the go.
All come FSC-certified, ensuring that responsible and sustainable forestry standards are behind our production and forest management practices.
Recycling your razors
In 2019, we teamed up with TerraCycle to launch the world’s first national razor recycling program in the United States — and we’re now working to expand it to more locations around the world.
As part of this program, consumers can return all brands of blades, razors, and plastic packaging for repurposing. Plus, when you’re ready to dispose of the blades you’re using with your GilletteLabs with Exfoliating Bar or GilletteLabs Heated Razor, you can even send it back to us.
How does this work?
- Register to request a Gillette collection bin.
- Collect your razors and blades instead of throwing them in the trash.
- Print a shipping label and send your razors and blades to TerraCycle for recycling.
- You can also drop them off at the closest public bin.
Good for the consumer, good for the environment
Our sustainability practices extend to the products themselves, how they work and what they’re made of.
- The GilletteLabs Rapid Foaming Shave Gel is created with recyclable materials and without alcohol or dyes. And like every Gillette product, it has been responsibly tested before launch.
- The GilletteLabs Quick Rinse Shave Foam has been specifically designed to rinse quickly and easily, so you devote less time and water to your shaving routine. This aligns with our broader efforts at water conservation.
Reducing our environmental footprint
Our focus on sustainability and recycling doesn’t just apply to our products, but also to our manufacturing processes and supply chain. By 2030, we plan to achieve:
- 35% reduction in water consumption per production,
- 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for manufacturing
- 100% renewable purchased electricity.
We’ve already attained a Zero Manufacturing Waste to Landfill status across our global network of plants.
