With nearly half of all British men removing body hair, manscaping is almost as popular as facial shaving.
So, whether you’re new to body grooming or want to enhance your skills, our comprehensive guide is here to help. From how to properly manscape to the best methods for intimate areas we’re leaving no hair untrimmed.
What is Manscaping?
Manscaping is the term commonly used to describe the act of removing or trimming men’s body hair.
Men’s Body Hair Grooming Tips
While manscaping may seem as simple as putting a razor to hair, adopting our tips for body grooming could help to ensure smooth results from head to toe.
After all, grooming your chest, underarms, and pubic area successfully is based on good technique as much as using the right tools.

Before you dive into the world of manscaping, there are a few key tips to bear in mind:
Use Designated Tools
We recommend having separate tools for your face and body.
This is not only more hygienic, but also means your tools have been designed specifically for the area you intend to shave.
Expertly designed to help take the hassle out of manscaping, our Gillette Intimate Pubic Hair and Balls Trimmer I5 and Gillette Intimate Pubic Hair Razor form the ultimate manscaping toolkit, reaching those hard-to-reach areas.
Shave with the Grain
Shaving in the direction of your hair growth generally helps to reduce the risk of irritation such as razor burn.
Before starting, always work out which way you need to angle your razor for more effective grooming.
Don’t Rush
If you only have 5 minutes before heading out the door, it’s probably not the best time to start shaving.
To achieve a successful shave, whether on your face or body, take your time. Delicate areas may be more prone to nicks and cuts, so we recommend having a bit more patience when grooming.
How to Manscape: A Step-by-Step Guide
To get you started on your body hair transformation, we’ve put together a simple, yet effective, manscaping routine.
Step 1: Select a Fixed Comb Length
The right comb length on your body hair trimmer can help you tame full, natural growth that hasn’t been touched by a razor for a while – or ever.
Our Gillette Intimate Pubic Hair and Balls Trimmer I5 comes with three comb attachments so you can easily set your desired hair length.
Unsure what length you’d like? Start with the longest option as you can always take more off if preferred.
Step 2: Trim
Long hair could have a greater risk of getting caught in your razor and causing discomfort – far from ideal in areas that are already sensitive.
To reduce the risk of this, always start by using a trimmer to groom the area first and neaten up the hair growth.
Step 3: Shower
Having a shower could help soften your body hair (which can be coarse and wiry), making it easier for the razor to glide over your skin.
Step 4: Lather Up with Shave Gel
Any good grooming regime involves a decent amount of lubrication to ensure your skin is protected while shaving.

Our Gillette Intimate Pubic Hair Shaving Cream and Cleanser is the ideal manscaping companion. Specially formulated with calming aloe vera for sensitive areas, it helps to make pubic hair softer and easier to cut for a smoother shave.
Step 5: Check for Dull Blades
Blade feeling dull or lubrication strips looking faded? It may be time for you to swap your blade attachment before you begin.
Take the stress out of grooming and keep a pack of our Gillette Intimate Pubic Hair Razor Blades on hand. Equipped with sharp, anti-friction blades and two lubrication strips before and after the blades, to help to protect your skin from unwanted nicks and cuts.
Step 6: Start Shaving
With your prep done, it’s time to start shaving!
Use light, gentle strokes and be sure to rinse your blade often, to clear it of excess hair and product.
For a smoother shave, pull any loose skin taut. This will help to give your razor a flatter surface to glide over and help reduce the risk of cuts.
In order to help prevent shaving rash on your body, ensure that you reapply shave gel or foam liberally before you re-stroke and try not to press your razor too hard!
Step 7: Rinse, Dry, And Moisturise
To finish your manscaping routine, rinse off in the shower and pat yourself dry (take care not to rub too vigorously as this may irritate).

Once dry, keep your skin soothed and hydrated by applying moisturiser to the area.
This is a particularly important step when shaving your balls as when they are bare you may experience more friction against clothing, or during physical exercise. The moisturiser works to create a barrier, helping to minimise rubbing and protecting against aggravation.
The Gillette Intimate range is the key to gentle and easy manscaping.
Whether you are looking to neaten up your chest hair, tidy up your armpits or get adventurous with your pubic hair, we are here to help you leave no hair ungroomed.
